The Hiebert Family’s Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Reveal
This is more than a renovation—it’s a life-changing gift.
Agnes Hiebert has been courageously battling a serious neurological disorder, one that affects her both physically and mentally. As her condition progressed, simple, everyday tasks became increasingly difficult—especially using a bathroom that wasn’t built for her needs.
That’s where the Handy Bros. Heroes knew we could step in.
At Handy Bros., our mission goes beyond business. We believe in doing something greater with our profits—in using our hands, our hearts, and our trade skills to support those who are suffering, in both big and small ways.
This full wheelchair-accessible bathroom renovation was a project we could take on right here at home in Chatham-Kent—one that would bring dignity, comfort, and ease to someone who needed it most.
From widening doorways to installing accessible fixtures, a roll-in shower, and carefully considered layout updates, every detail was handled with care and intention. The end result? A space where Agnes can move freely, safely, and with greater independence.
We’re beyond grateful to the Hiebert family for allowing us to be a part of their journey—and to our incredible community for continuing to support the work that allows us to give back in meaningful ways.
Because comfort should be accessible to everyone.

Mitch has been a valued member of the Handy Bros. team for over 9 years. He began his journey in the installation department, quickly rising through the ranks into management, where he successfully led multiple departments. In 2018, Mitch and his brother Nic took ownership of Handy Bros., continuing the legacy with a fresh vision—Home Comfort Done Differently. Mitch is happily married to his beautiful wife, Jessica, and is a proud, devoted father. Outside of work, he’s passionate about health and fitness, and has a deep appreciation for delicious Portuguese cuisine. When it comes to travel, anywhere in Southern Europe is his happy place.
A couple weeks ago, we had the absolute joy of being the “Mystery Reader” for a group of bright and curious kindergarteners! We read them a fun story, shared a bit about what we do here at Handy Bros., and answered all of their awesome questions.
There’s something so special about seeing the wonder in young minds and hearing how they think—so full of curiosity and imagination. We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect with the next generation!

Why is customer service so terrible these days?
You’re the one paying for a service, but somehow you end up doing all the chasing. You have to keep reminding companies to send a quote, carve out hours of your day for huge time windows, and half the time—they don’t even show up on time… or at all.
Then they leave, and you’re left cleaning up after them, just hoping the job was done right.
